Subitizing War 1-10
To subitize is to identify the number of things in a set simply by quickly looking at them—not by counting them one by one. The practice of subitizing has its roots in psychology, but it is now taught in some preschools and early grades in addition to traditional counting.
This mathematical skill allows students to gain a grasp of numbers and advance to higher levels of addition.
Our set is designed to be played like the card game WAR. Where each player has their stack of cards in a pile face down. Both players flip over the top card at the same time. The player who has the larger number wins both cards. Game play continues until one player runs out of cards.
Another way to use these cards is to have students sort them according to their number.
